Mazury KUMAK Centre – Prefabrication in Service of Biodiversity
The Mazury Centre for Biodiversity and Education (KUMAK), located in the heart of the Great Masurian Lakes, is a unique scientific and educational facility belonging to the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw. Its mission is to conduct research, education, and active nature conservation in one of the most environmentally valuable areas in Poland.
As a technological partner, we faced the task of supplying the structure for this exceptional facility. From the very beginning, it was clear that the construction process had to be subordinated to a paramount goal: maximum respect and minimal interference with the surrounding nature.
The Challenge: Modern Architecture in an Ecologically Sensitive Area
The main challenge was the erection of two modern buildings in the area of the Masurian Landscape Park. The construction process had to be not only fast but, above all, “clean” to generate as little noise, waste, and pollution as possible. It was crucial to avoid creating large construction facilities and material storage areas that could degrade the valuable, forested surroundings.
The Budizol Solution: Technology That Respects Nature
Prefabrication proved to be the ideal answer to these rigorous requirements.
-
Minimal Environmental Impact: We applied a “Just-In-Time” assembly strategy. Ready-made structural elements arrived from the factory and were immediately installed by a crane, without the need for on-site storage. Thanks to this, we significantly minimized the occupied area and kept the surrounding nature undisturbed.
-
Clean and Quiet Assembly: Shifting almost all production to the factory meant that on-site work was exceptionally clean and quiet compared to traditional methods, which was crucial in such a sensitive location.
-
Freedom in Shaping the Form: Our flexible production lines effortlessly handled the challenge posed by the circular shape of the buildings. We delivered precisely manufactured, curved wall panels that fit together perfectly.
-
Support for Energy Efficiency: The perfect fit of the precast elements ensured high airtightness of the buildings. This is a key parameter that allowed for the application of highly energy-efficient heating systems throughout the complex, which is consistent with the Centre’s ecological mission.
The Result: A Reference Investment
Thanks to the use of prefabrication technology, the construction of the KUMAK Centre proceeded in complete harmony with its surroundings.
-
Ecosystem Protection: The construction process had a minimal impact on the valuable nature of Masuria.
-
Vision-Compliant Architecture: We executed a bold, modern design with an unusual geometry without any compromises.
-
Support for the Centre’s Mission: We created buildings that are themselves an example of pro-ecological thinking – airtight, energy-efficient, and built with respect for nature.
-
Reference Building: The KUMAK Centre has become a model investment, demonstrating how to execute modern projects in areas that are particularly sensitive environmentally.
Our certificates
Nordcert
It awards certificates for products, processes and persons in the field of reinforcement, concrete and aggregates and educates in the area of related competences.
Betong och Ballast Certifiering
Swedish industry certificate. Products marked with it require only a simplified acceptance control and do not require testing of the declared properties.
PÜZ BAU
