Hybrid prefabrication

Hybrid prefabrication is defined as consisting of two basic construction materials: concrete and wood.

We can talk about hybrids in two contexts:

  • element (when wood and concrete are combined within one prefabrication)
  • structure (when reinforced concrete and wooden prefabrications are used within one building)

Budizol has implemented projects in both of these contexts. We present the individual elements in more detail in the next section. Here are a few more words about structures.

Rosevia Resort & SPA was built on a cliff. For this reason, it was crucial to reduce the load caused by the buildings, and timber prefabrication proved to be excellent in this respect. At the same time, the durability of elements exposed to the greatest wear was important, which is why, for example, the flights of stairs are made of reinforced concrete.

These ideas were fully developed in budiHOME. These fully prefabricated houses have, for example, reinforced concrete walls that accumulate heat and a lightweight structure of wooden roof panels that not only significantly speed up construction, but also allow for the use of a larger attic area than with a traditional roof truss.

We Embrace Challenges

To date, we have manufactured two types of hybrid precast elements, shown below: walls and slabs.

If you have other needs regarding this type of element, we will likely also be able to meet your expectations thanks to the flexibility of our production lines.

Exceeding Expectations

Hybrid prefabrication allows for achieving results unavailable to traditional construction, and even to precast elements made from a single type of material.

Among its advantages, features such as the following can be listed:

Longevity and graceful aging

Concrete façades are exceptionally durable and airtight, which contributes to their longevity. Furthermore, aesthetically executed façades gain patina with age.

Surface optimization

The gain in usable floor area compared to traditional construction can reach up to 4,5% – for typical house sizes, this space is equivalent to, for instance, an additional toilet.

Energy efficiency

In hybrid buildings, you can easily achieve not only the WT2021 standard but even zero-energy performance, and consequently, low utility bills.

Precision

Our hybrid homes differ from the design within limits of only +/- 2cm. We also model all installations, which allows us to avoid collisions during the assembly stage.

How Does This Look in Practice?

The recording presents the construction of a hybrid home in the village of Budy-Zasłona, right next to the border of the Masovian and Łódź Voivodeships.

The client was keen on efficiently erecting an energy-efficient year-round home. They decided to use the budiHOME offer. As can be seen, the construction proceeded regardless of weather conditions. For those familiar with typical construction sites, the practical lack of a warehouse may be surprising – the assembly of individual precast elements takes place directly from the wheels (Just-In-Time delivery).

We are currently working on further improvements to the assembly process, particularly concerning the roof panels, which will allow us to further limit the scope of work necessary to perform on the construction site and thus accelerate the handover of properties to clients.

Products

Unless you’re looking for bridge elements, we can most likely fulfill your order for prefabricated elements. Both for the very technically complex ones, as well as for relatively simple structures that we haven’t devoted separate pages to, e.g. foundation footings or grain silos.
